KNITTING PERFECTIONI was taught to knit at the age of 7 by my mother, and completed my City and Guild Creative Studies, Knitwear Design Part I, at Liverpool Community College. I completed Part II in 2002, after commuting once a week for two years to Huddersfield Technical Studies. Whilst at Huddersfield I was sponsored and tutored by Rowan Yarns. I have taught at Liverpool Community College, the Voirrey Embroidery Centre and at the Fibre and Clay Contemporary Craft Gallery and Knit Studio since 2007, where the workshops I teach include: Learn to Knit, Professional Finishing Techniques, Aran and Cable, Entrelac, Lace Knitting, Sock Knitting and Fair Isle. My favourite types of knitting include Fair Isle, lace knitting, Shetland hapshawls, big needle knitting and modular knitting; I attended a week's workshop run by Shetland College on the Island of Yell. I attended the "In The Loop" conference on Shetland in September 2010.
I am an experienced workshop tutor in handknitting and can offer workshops on subjects including the following:
I provide comprehensive notes for each participant, and can provide all materials/tools if required. I have my own transport and am happy to travel far and wide. I have a wide experience of teaching, which includes yarn shops, knitting groups, schools, colleges and Guilds. I have taught all ages, and all abilities. I am passionate about knitting and yarn and would welcome any challenge.
